Following the first two Jimi Hendrix' albums, instantly acclaimed as classics, Electric Ladyland propelled Jimi Hendrix into the Olympian stratosphere (indeed, portions of the album sound as if they were recorded there). After this album, there was no doubt in anyone's mind: Jimi had absolutely no peers whatsoever and was the new Electric Guitar "God". He would remain one until this day.  The album features an incredible cast of characters and supporting crew, some of whom are UNCREDITED. Al Kooper, Steve Winwood and Jefferson Airplane's Jack Cassady are known to have played on the sessions and are officially credited; Johnny Winter, Stephen Stills and Jim Morrison (whose murmuring and drunken rants can purportedly be heard in the background of "Voodoo Chile - slight return") are rumored to be among the guests. These Japanese hi-grade , virgin-vinyl, extended-dynamic range vinyl pressings - while they were imported  in the 1970's and early 1980's - were audiophile and connoisseur delights  (we   have not  seen some of these titles in circulation in years – some of them are highly collectible). These majestic recordings received an  intense, meticulous and laborious treatment like very few other recordings did.   They are characterized by the boosted dynamic and frequency range, almost compulsive attention paid to the fine detail and integrity of the pressing and highest quality  of the material. Many of  these recordings remain unsurpassed, delivering music  reproduction as close to  the actual recording session as possible. In the best tradition of some of the major Japanese corporations -  such as RCA Victor Co. (Nippon),  Warner-Pioneer Corporation of Japan or EMI-Toshiba Corporation  -  the sound quality of the Japanese pressings is, generally,  truly extraordinary - much better, we firmly believe, than the corresponding first pressings of the albums in question.

(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we  grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)          WE GRADE ALL SIDES EXCEPT SIDE 1 (3 SIDES ALTOGETHER)  AS STRONG NEAR MINT. The original luster is very much intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)          WE GRADE SIDE 1 OF THE VINYL AS STRONG VG++, just a notch below NEAR MINT. A light sidewise “hairline” scuff IS VISIBLE, but is insignificant relative to the overall condition of the vinyl, and are only moderately visually distracting. For most part, the vinyl on this side looks impeccable, without any MAJOR visual flaws or imperfections. Much of the original luster is intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(c)           The album comes with the original Japanese-only insert/lyrics sheet still intact.

(d)          The records are STILL in their original inner, perforated plastic baggies, which have - apparently with success - shielded the records from the harmful impact of elements over many years!

(e)           The records are pressed on a beautiful, high-quality, virgin-grade vinyl, which is usually used for audiophile, extended-dynamic-range, half-speed mastered and connoisseur pressings.

(f)              In addition, the records are pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(g)          Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!
