Becoming increasingly hard to find, an original first pressing of the near 40 year old classic Hendrix double album - Electric Ladyland - on UK Track label.  Plenty of later copies and reissue around but now is your chance to get hold of a true original !!! The originality is evidenced by the slightly two-toned blue text on the track listing inside the EJ Day gatefold cover which is printed over the very faintly visible original track listing which was subsequently amended as per the changes in the matrix nos. on the run-offs of each side (see below).   Large photos of Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding (later issues have white text & smaller photos). The labels carry the inverted cat. serial numbers above the main cat. number. It also bears early pressing stampers - see below.

Both vinyls have a very good sheen to them, no dulling and no scuffing.  All four sides were play checked and played very well . There are some wispy hairlines and extremely light superficial scratches in a few places when you look hard but no deep, audible scratches ( i.e. no nailcatchers). No clicks, no ticks, no skips etc. There is some light static-like surface noise mainly between tracks and some on the quieter passages - but there aren't too many of those on this monster album ! It does not spoil the listening pleasure of the album - I play-checked it on regulo 7 and it still sounds fresh and pretty awesome. Most noticeable surface noise was on the opening of side A - And The Gods Made Love / Have You Ever Been - basically because this is the quietest passage. Don't be put off by this, it just gets better as you go along.  Both vinyls are housed in matching  poly-lined ' Plastic Bags Can Be Dangerous' inners which are in excellent condition .

The EJ Day laminated gatefold cover is in very good+ condition. The spine is fine, there are no seam splits or tears.  The top corners show some signs of wear but far from wearing out and are still solid after 39 years. The opening edges to the vinyl pockets are sturdy with very minor signs of wear.  The laminate is generally excellent, 4-5 minor wrinkles and some cracking in the centre hinged area inside (can feel it)  but none missing. The labels have some signs of spindle travel across the centres but it's about what you would expect (see pics.).

The grading of the vinyls, cover and inners falls somewhere between EXCELLENT in parts and VERY GOOD in other parts ( see below) . Overall I would apply a VG+ grade to this package based on the above critical account . I have seen so many of these albums in a sad state, seriously scuffed , deep scratches, groove wear, torn covers full of pin holes where it has been hung as a poster, edges covered in tape, stickers or biro'd writing on the labels...BUT THIS ONE HAS GOT NONE OF THOSE NASTIES !!!!  IT'S IN VERY GOOD SHAPE !! Don't miss this much sought after 1st issue of what many consider to be one of the best rock albums of all time. A real masterpiece.

RC Grading System -

EXCELLENT = The record shows some signs of having been played but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and /or creasing.

VERY GOOD = Record has been played many times but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items,without major defects,is acceptable.
