Description

The records that I offer for sale have been critically play-graded, at loud volume, on a Rega Planar 3 turntable fitted with an Elys cartridge. I will only sell records that play to a high standard. Any significant playing defects will be detailed in the description below. I know how disappointing it is to receive a record graded as excellent, only to find that listening pleasure is spoiled by endless pops, loud clicks and intrusive background crackle. I guarantee that you will not buy such a record from me!!

The winning bidder can expect to receive a clean record, carefully packaged, with the vinyl removed from the inner and outer sleeves to prevent splits in transit.

Here for auction is an exceptional example of the double album by THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE titled “ELECTRIC LADYLAND”, Catalogue Number 613 008/009. This is an *ORIGINAL 1968 UK PRESSING* on the TRACK RECORD LABEL, with fully laminated E. J. Day & Co. Ltd. sleeve which has the track-listing printed in white text. Seriously difficult to find in the superb condition offered here.

The full matrix numbers and stampers are:

Side A – 61300##8(hand etched) A//1       1         1  8

Side D – 613008  B▼2  420     1    2        1   1

Side B – 613009  A2  420     1    1        1   2

Side C – 613009  B//2  420    1    1         3

The fully laminated gatefold sleeve, printed and made by Ernest J. Day & Co. Ltd., London, is in EXCELLENT CONDITION. The front and back covers are unmarked, with only a few small laminate creases near the edges, and just four half-moon creases near the front opening edge. The laminate is in excellent shape with no lifting or flaking. The opening gatefold spread is near perfect with just a few tiny laminate creases near the edges. The top and bottom edges show no signs of wear whatsoever. There is just very light feathering to the opening edges. The opening edges have been made slightly uneven during the manufacturing process - they taper in towards the top corners, finishing in two small nobbles (see photo). The spine is superb - square and solid with no wear or damage to the laminate. The corners are nice and square with only the lightest of rubbing. There are no rips, stickers or writing. Overall a beautiful example of this iconic sleeve!!

Both records retain a deep mirror-like shine and sit flat and true on the turntable. Visually all 4 sides are in EXCELLENT CONDITION with just light sleeve removal type surface marks evident, which are of no audio significance. Record 2 has a small pressing fault (an air bubble I think), which causes a few clicks near the end of Track 1 on each side. The BEAUTIFUL MATT BLACK TRACK LABELS are unmarked with only a few very light spindle traces evident. There is no wear around either of the spindle holes. I am confident that the records have not been played many times.

PLAYGRADE ASSESSMENT:

All 4 sides play SUPERBLY with ALL FREQUENCIES CRYSTAL CLEAR. This is a particularly loud and vibrant recording which sounds sensational played at loud volume. Several of the tracks have quiet introductions and passages which can easily be ruined by excessive crackle and surface sound. Not on this example – all play beautifully with very low levels of unwanted noise. A significantly better playing copy may be very difficult to find!!

Complete with the original matching white poly-lined inner sleeves which have no splits or tears, just minor age discoloration and light creasing. “British Patent No…” and “MADE IN ENGLAND…” is printed in blue text at the bottom.

OVERALL A SUPERB EXAMPLE OF THIS HENDRIX CLASSIC - DON’T MISS THE OPPORTUNITY!!!
