Description
This is a rare first pressing of the stereo version of the second album by The Jimi Hendrix Experience, and has been owned by me since it was first released in December 1967 by Track Records. Both playing surfaces of the record are dirty with some fine scratches. There are some audible clicks and background crackling, but it plays well without skipping or jumping. I’m no expert, but a professional record cleaner might be able to restore this to a significantly better condition. The labels are intact with some spindle marks and a shallow abrasion between 7 and 8 o’clock on Side 2 [just visible on photo 6]. Side 1 matrix run-out is stamped: 613003 A ? 1 1 and Side 2 matrix run-out is stamped: 613003 B ? 1 1 Unusually, the laminated gatefold cover printed by Ernest J. Day & Co is in a rather cleaner condition than the record with just slight creasing inside and outside, and the spine is intact. The four corners have some minor wear but the only real blemish is a strip of sellotape residue about 10 cm x 1 cm along the top of the right hand edge of the inside [photo 3]. The inner sleeve is the original and is imprinted “Made in England 117” on one side. There is a tear at the edge of the cut-out circle and some green dye on the other side [photo 4]. There is some discolouration on both sides and the polythene lining is missing.
