Beautiful copy of Buffet’s first solo album and it is an original first pressing. It is a cutout but “Down To Earth” almost immediately went into the bargain bins after release. The LP sailed out of print and out of view. He played a lot of clubs in Austin and hung out with The Lost Gonzo Band, Jerry Jeff Walker and B.W. Stevenson. His 2nd LP was released three years later (A White Sport Coat & a Pink Crustacean) and he had his first hit, “Come Monday”. The rest his history. “Down To Earth” was already so far gone they were no longer available in the bargain bins. That’s why first pressings disappeared. One other thing, in 1976 after Jimmy Buffett‘s career had taken off, reissued “Down To Earth” as “High Cumberland Jubilee” with one additional track (“Richard Frost”). In 1979, it was reissued again as “Before the Salt”. To my knowledge it has never been reissued on CD. It is “Down to Earth” is the most collectible.
Stored vertically in a smoke free environment for 47 years.
