Description

This is an absolutely stunning original 1963 first pressing copy of Jimmy Smith’s classic Back at the Chicken Shack LP on Blue Note mono 4117. Classic funky organ jazz featuring Kenny Burrell on guitar and Stanley Turrentine on tenor. I have seen a lot of copies of this record over the years but never one as good as this one. Really a beautiful, beautiful copy. Original New York labels with Rudy Van Gelder’s name and the “ear” stamp in the runoffs.  The disc is very nearly perfectly mint, with maybe one or two extremely light superficial sleeve scuffs, but barely even that. Really this copy is more like NM. Plays absolutely beautifully. The  cover is also incredibly clean, with barely any wear. A touch of light discoloration at the bottom of the back, and a 1.00 price written at the top right corner of the back. Also a little corner bump at the lower left but other than that this is an almost perfect cover as well. No seam splits, ringwear, or lamination peeling. The spine is perfectly intact and fully readable, and the edges and corners are remarkably crisp and clean. The original Blue Note inner sleeve is also included. This is truly a top, top copy, near impossible to beat.
