Description
Scarce vintage jazz LP featuring JIMMY SMITH TRIO on the BLUE NOTE label, from 1957. Title is “Groovin’ at Smalls’ Paradise, Vol. 1.” Mono pressing, catalog number is BLP-1585.
Record is thick vinyl, with deep groove. Label address is "BLUE NOTE RECORDS * 47 WEST 63rd * NYC." Has "RVG” machine stamped in trailoff vinyl, "ear" symbol on both sides. Matrix number is hand-etched. Jacket has "For Complete Catalog Write to BLUE NOTE RECORDS, 47 West 63rd St., New York 23" on reverse at bottom.
Personnel consist of the following: JIMMY SMITH - organ; EDDIE McFADDEN - guitar; and DONALD BAILEY - drums.
Side 1 contains following songs: “After Hours” (Parrish) and “My Funny Valentine” (Rodgers-Hart).
Side Two contains following tunes: “Slightly Monkish” (Smith) and “Laura” (Raskin).
Jacket is a nice EX, would grade near mint except for slight bumps at two corners and reverse white is beginning to darken slightly. Artwork is nice and bright, shows beautifully. Overall a very fine jacket.
Vinyl is nice EX+ with full original gloss, several very slight hairlines (not audible), no serious marks, appears to have been played a very small number of times and handled with care. Plays beautifully with superb fidelity. I think the winning bidder will be very pleased.
