JIMMY SMITH “Midnight Special” RVG, P, LAM, Blue Note BLP 4078 Mono Vinyl

This is 1961, first edition, “RVG” stamped, Laminated Cover, “P” pressing of JIMMY SMITH’s “Midnight Special” on the "New York USA” labels of Blue Note BLP 4078. Musicians include Jimmy Smith, Stanley Turrentine, Kenny Burrell, Donald Bailey.

VINYL plays with light to medium level surface noise (i.e, crackle, static, ?? or ????, relative to the volume of the music/instruments), with occasional pops and ticks. Ensemble sections are clear, dynamic and strong. No skips. Good gloss. Many hairline marks, none feelable. (If you can’t feel it, you won’t hear it). The “New York USA” labels show wear, some foxing. See photos.

LAMINATED COVER is in very good shape. Gum blob top center. No peeling. Corners worn. Seams and spine in very good shape. “BLUE NOTE RECORDS INC., 43 West 61st St., New York 23” back jacket shows some wear, but clean. Please see photos.

   

This LP was play-tested on a high-end audio system. RECORD CLEANED ON ULTRASONIC CLEANER.
