Description

  • Blue Note Records BLP 1512, this is an original mono pressing - NOT a reissue - of the classic Jimmy Smith LP "A New Sound - A New Star: Vol. 1". This pressing has the "767 Lexington Ave NYC" address notation, with both the infamous "ear" and "RVG" clearly marked in the trail off; there is a "deep groove" under the label on both sides. Jacket is EX-/VG++, showing some minor handling/ring wear; there are a few corner bumps and hints of shelf wear/flaking at edges, but nothing of much note. Vinyl is a shiny and clean EX (excellent) on side 1, showing some minor paper marks. Side 2 grades about VG++, shiny with some paper and surface hairlines that do not feel to the touch. Playback is solid throughout - occasional crackle at the beginning of each side and between songs - while labels are crisp with a few superficial marks. Only Lexington copy of this one I have ever come across.  NOTE: US Postal rates have increased as of January 27th. Buyers now pay $4.00 media shipping in the US, $20.00 first class mail overseas.
