ONE OF THE HIGHEST RATED RECORDS IN HIS PROLIFIC RECORDING CAREER!!! THIS IS RATED 5***** STARS WITH A RARE DIAMOND-MARKED "ESSENTIAL COLLECTION" RECORDING AS NOTED IN THE ALL MUSIC GUIDE TO JAZZ, 3RD EDITION, 1998 ADDING, "THESE ARE MUST-HEAR AND MUST-HAVE RECORDINGS, AND SHOULD BE A PART OF ANY GOOD COLLECTION OF THE GENRE."
HERE IS AN EXCERPT OF THE ALL MUSIC REVIEW BY SENIOR EDITOR, SCOTT YANOW . . .
"This album should greatly interest all Jimmy Smith collectors. Four excellent selections featuring a quintet with altoist Lou Donaldson, Tina Brooks on tenor, guitarist Eddie Mc Fadden, and on drums, either Art Blakey [on three tracks] or Donald Bailey joining the organist/leader. The repertoire is filled with blues and bop standards, like 'Night in Tunisia' for example, with soloing at a consistently high and hard-swinging level. Jimmy Smith fans will be pleased."
Of note: clean-cut hole 1/4" punch on the upper right corner of the cover.
