Description
TITLE/ARTIST: This very, very rare and extremely collectible Joe Houston LP on the original, although little known small label, Combo Records Label (of Hollywood, California) and is entitled "Rockin At The Drive-In", from 1955. The album features 12 great early RnR/RnB instrumentals by this great sax playing genius, Joe Houston. This album features not only great music, but it also has one great cover shot of Houston playing his sax in front of a Scrivner's Drive-In (in Southern California), two 1950's convertibles (for you "car cover" collectors out there), and a crowd dressed right out of the times (the mid '50's). It's outstanding! In my opinion, both the jacket and the vinyl are in really good condition, but please view the pictures below, read about the condition, and judge for yourself;
LABEL INFO: As mentioned above it is on the original, purple with silver print, Combo Records Label, LP-400, is in MONO, and is in truly excellent condition. There are some spindle lines around the center hole, but otherwise this label is just fine;
VINYL INFO: Likewise, the vinyl is extremely shiny, clean and nice, and almost perfect in appearance. If you look closely, there are a few light surface/paper lines, but nothing that effects the LP's play at all---nor it's appearance all that much either;
JACKET INFO: Finally, this "car cover", very '50ish looking jacket is also in really good, nearly tip-top shape. There are just a few scuff marks along the seams, and a 2" split in the middle of the vertical seam. The backside only shows some early signs of light ringwear. Otherwise, in my opinion, it is just fine--espiecally for what it is and how old it is. But, again, please check out the pictures below and judge for yourself.
INTERESTING FACTS: You just don't see this very rare, and highly collectible Joe Houston LP out there anymore, espiecally in this kind of condition, so please have at it. I have two other Joe Houston albums as well as some very collectible 1950-60's LPs and 45s up for auction on Ebay this week as well. I am slowly selling off alot of my very treasured, personal collection, and there are many LPs and 45's to get to yet. Many of these are quite rare and hard to find anymore, and most all of them are in near mint shape. So, please bookmark my site and check it out from time to time.
GOOD LUCK BIDDING!! When attempting to view my pictures, please be a little patient as they do take a few seconds to fully focus---but they do come in. And, if anyone ever needs more info/pics than what is listed, please email me. I will respond!!
POSTAGE/HANDLING CHARGES are as follow: In the United States, buyer agrees to pay $3.00 (Media) or $6.00 (Priority) for the first LP purchased, and then just $1.00 per LP after that-----so, buy in quantity and save. These are U.S. rates only, and all foreign winners will have to email me for their exact costs, although I will send a detailed invoice as soon as the auction ends. I accept money orders, good checks, and/or PAYPAL. Again, please continue to check out "rogersrecords" on ebay for future collectible records of all types. There are many more to come!
