Description

A near perfect original 1964 copy of the ultra rare Joe Meek produced "My Johnny Doesn't Come Around Any More" b/w "Please Listen To Me" by Flip & The Dateliners - widely acknowledged as one of the greatest of all Joe Meek's recordings. A spare hypnotic, almost swamp-funk, soul outing this record always stands out when featured on Joe Meek re-issue collections and yet it sold poorly in the mid-60s and, to my knowledge, NEVER shows up for sale as an original copy these days - particularly one that has clearly had so few plays as this.

The vinyl is glossy and totally scratch free. There aren't even any spindle marks on the mint lables. Even the HMV bag is crisp bright and clean. In all it is remarkable that a forty four year old disc can survive like this, unblemished, unmarked and as new. That it is also a classic Joe Meek 45 makes this auction that much more desirable.

The artist "Flip" was otherwise known as Vivienne Chering, singer of the far more common "I'll Do My crying" on Decca. F&TD did record one other single with Joe, the equally compelling "Mama Didn't Lie", but that remained until recent years unreleased. This magnificent single was released and subsequently ignored. But here it is once more in it's original form, near mint and possibly unique to eBay. The start bid is low and there is no reserve.
