RARE white label PROMO vinyl LP pressing -- JOE WALSH - So What - 1974 ABC Dunhill Records USA - DSD-50171. Hard-to-find ORIGINAL white label promo -- a first pressing of this album from late 1974 by Joe Walsh. The stamper matrix in the trail-off vinyl/dead wax is as follows: Side A: S DSD-50171 - A (followed by a number 1 that is circled) KENDUN A -- Side B: S DSD-50171 - B (followed by a number 3 that is circled) KENDUN A -- And of course, as many of you know, Joe liked to include inscriptions in the dead wax on the first few albums he released. This was usually found on the initial pressings of each album. Here, on So What, on Side A you will find: "THAT'S NO BANANY, THAT'S MY NOZE" -- Please see photos of back jacket/cover or label sides for song track listing. This is my personal favorite album by Joe. I don't know how many copies I've had, but I never get tired of it. The re-make of "Turn To Stone" and songs like "County Fair" and "Help Me through the Night" are worth the price of admission. Great guest musician friends are playing or singing here, too (Joe Vitale, Dan Fogelberg, Don Henley, Glenn Frey, J.D. Souther, Randy Meisner, Bryan Garofalo, Russ Kunkel, Kenny Passarelli, more). LP in VG++ condition (equivalent to excellent on some grading scales) -- a few light surface marks, most of which were caused by the manufacturing process (plating, pressing) -- no scratches. Many pressings from this era of the 1970s have some surface noise issues associated with the quality of the vinyl used and/or the pressing process -- for the most part, detectable only in between some of the songs -- sonics are superb. White labels are clean. Jacket/cover is graded as G+ -- a piece of tape along the bottom edge is there to hold together the edge partition that came undone. Otherwise, moderate ring wear, light edge and moderate corner wear, a few small crease marks and light scuff marks. Promotional sticker still affixed on the front (lower left). Original custom cardboard inner sleeve is in VG+ condition with cool art work and all credits. LP housed in a separate poly-lined protective inner sleeve. All enclosed in a poly outer sleeve.
