Condizioni : copertina con tracce di ring wear, un pò d'usura lungo i bordi senza nessun danno per le scritte della costolina, tre piccole abrasioni nella parte centrale in alto del lato frontale. Sul retro si nota una sorta di striscia ingiallita appena sotto il bordo superiore e la stampigliatura D.J. NOT FOR SALE; bello stato, EX / vinile con entrambi i lati dell'etichetta che evidenziano un parziale scolorimento del nero nella parte superiore, si osservi, per cortesia, l'immagine n° 3. Pochi segnetti superficiali che tuttavia condizionano moderatamente l'ascolto con alcuni clicks; bello stato, EX

Conditions : cover shows some moderate ring wear, a bit of edge wear without any flaws on the spine, three tiny abrasions in the central upper part of the front side. On the back there is a sort of yellowed band just below the top edge and the stamp DJ NOT FOR SALE, EX / vinyl with both sides of the label showing a partial discoloration of the black at the top, note, please, the picture No. 3. a few cosmetic rubs and minor scuffs which, however, affect moderately listening with some light clicks, EX

GRADAZIONE RIGOROSA - STRICTLY GRADED

Copertine e vinili sono visualmente gradati dopo un’attenta osservazione sotto la luce del sole fatta sulla mia terrazza a tetto. Nelle giornate grigie vengono controllati sotto una forte lampada alogena con l’aiuto di una lente d’ingrandimento. Tutti i i 33 giri in asta sono stati interamente ascoltati su un giradischi Rega Planar 3 fornito di una testina a magnete mobile Grado Statement 1. Per EP e singoli a 45 giri utilizzo un Thorens TD 166 BC con testina, sempre MM, Goldring 1006. Ritenendo che le abituali classificazioni quali Mint, Ex, Vg, ecc., ecc… siano poco significative per spiegare le reali condizioni dei dischi ed anche estremamente soggettive, precedo sempre tali classificazioni con una breve descrizione degli eventuali difetti che ho riscontrato, ad eccezione di Mint- che il più alto grado che conferisco a qualsiasi disco. Soltanto per le copie ancora sigillate all’origine utilizzo MINT/MINT.

Sleeves and vinyls are visually graded after a careful check in bright sunshine on my roof terrace. In the gray days I watch the records under a strong halogen lamp with the help of a magnifying glass. All LPs in auction have been fully heard on a turntable Rega Planar 3 with a moving magnet cartridge Grado Statement 1. I listen EPs and singles 45  rpm. on a turntable Thorens TD 166 BC with a MM cartridge Goldring 1006. Considering that the usual classifications such as Mint, EX, Vg, etc…, etc… are not significant to explain the real condition of the records in addition to a total subjectivity of opinion, I always introduce before these classifications a short description concerning any defects I have verified with the exception of Mint minus, the highest grade I declare. I use MINT/MINT exclusively for the still from factory sealed copies.

Notes : musica e direzione orchestrale di John Barry con l'eccezione di " Only a Bird  In a Gilded Cage " composta da Harry Von Tilzer all'inizio del 1900. Non è facile capire come un ex-suonatore di tromba in una banda militare e musicista autodidatta abbia avuto uno stupendo rapporto con la musica classica. Del resto i dati parlano chiaro, i cinque premi Oscar che ha ricevuto riguardavano colonne sonore molto lontane dai film con James Bond o dal tema di " Attenti a Quei Due " e richiedevano una alta cultura musicale, un esempio per tutti " Il Leone d'Inverno " del 1969 ambientato nel dodicesimo secolo. Dunque Barry ha un rapporto con la musica sinfonica oserei dire superiore a tanti compositori usciti dal conservatorio. Quest'ultimi tendono a considerare la musica classica come il massimo vertice del suono senza tener conto che un film spesso non richiede questa superiore espressione musicale per la trama, l'ambientazione, il genere, ecc, ecc... mentre John Barry utilizza la musica classica così come altri generi musicali adattandoli al film che gli è stato commissionato e alla sua sensibilità artistica. Grandissimo musicista ! Il film " La Cassa Sbagliata " è ambientato nella seconda metà dell'ottocento e giocoforza le composizioni dovevano rifarsi a questo periodo. Sì ma con tecniche innovative, piccoli divertissements come le percussioni che imitano il treno nel finale di " Strangler " (a4). Quanto detto sopra non convincerà senza dubbio gli appassionati di funk o jazz ad acquistare questo disco. Posso ben comprenderli ma questa, signore e signori, è bella musica !

Notes : music and orchestra John Barry except for " Only a Bird  In a Gilded Cage " composed by Harry Von Tilzer in the early twentieth century. It's not easy to understand how a former trumpet player in a military band and self-taught musician has had a wonderful relationship with classical music. After all the facts are clear, the five Oscar awards won concerned scores very distant from the Bond movies or the theme of " The Persuaders " and needed a high musical culture, an example for all " The Lion of winter " of 1969 set in the twelfth century. So Barry has a relationship with symphonic music I dare say greater than many composers coming from the conservatory. These last persons tend to consider classical music as the top summit of sound without taking into account that a film often does not require this superior musical expression for the plot, setting, genre, etc, etc ... whereas John Barry uses classical music as well as other musical genres adapting them to the film and its artistic sensibility. Great musician ! The film " The Wrong Box " is set in the second half of the nineteenth and clearly the compositions had to be conformed to this period. Of course, but with innovative techniques, small divertissements as percussion imitating the train at the end of " Strangler " (a4). The above will not certainly convince the fans of funk and jazz to buy this album. I can well understand them, but  this, ladies and gentlemen, is beautiful music !
