Pipe Major John Davie Burgess MBE (11 March 1934 - 29 June 2005) was one of the most eminent players of the Scots bagpipes.
Burgess was born in Aberdeen. He began playing at the age of four, and gained international fame as a child prodigy, before turning professional at the age of sixteen. In 1950 he became the youngest ever winner of the Gold Medals for piobaireachd at both the Argyllshire Gathering in Oban and the Northern Meeting in Inverness, and he went on to become known as the 'King Of The Highland Pipers'. RECORD CHECKED USING - SONY PSLX2 DIRECT DRIVE TURNTABLE FITTED WITH SONY HL150 MOVING MAGNET CARTRIDGE, COUNTERBALANCE SETTING = O.75gms. MARANTZ PM4200 AMPLIFIER (DOLBY & LOUDNESS DISABLED) AND WHARFDALE MACH3 STUDIO MONITOR SPEAKERS.
RRPG GRADING SYSTEM :-
MINT :- only brand new records are mint! So for those that are in 'as new' condition - I grade these as EX+.
EX+ See above. The record shows no signs of having been played but as I play each record (to check for blemishes not visible to the naked eye) it cannot be classed as MINT.
EX - The record shows some signs of having been played,but there is very little lessening in sound quality.The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing
VG - The record has obviously been played many times,but displays no major deteriorationin sound quality,despite noticable surface marks and the occasional scratch.Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items,without any major defects,is acceptable.
G - The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticably deteriorated,perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches.The cover and contents suffer from folding,scuffingof edges,spine splits,discolouration etc.
OTHER. I do not sell records in worse condition than the above, - unless they are particularly rare and have appeal to collectors of a particular artist or genre. In this case I give a full description in DETAILS.
