  The best album along with "Hooker'n'Heat" in the 70's for John Lee Hooker, and one of the best albums I've ever listened to. Of all the musicians involved in the project (Steve Miller, Mel Brown, Cliff Coulter, Mark Naftalin among others) my favorite is Jesse "Ed" Davis, a Native-American, and fine guitarist (listen to his solo in "We Might As Well Call It Through") who previously played in Taj Mahal's band. All the songs are really good and here are my favorite in order of preference: "Endless Boogie", We Might As Well Call It Through", "A Sheep Out On The Foam" (also titled "Drifting Blues", or "Sailing Blues"),"Kick Hit 4 Hit Kix U" (dedicated to Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin. God bless you Master Hooker!),"Standin' At The Crossroads","Sittin' In My Dark Room","(I Got) A Good 'Un". If you can find at a decent price, buy it!

  The criticism seems to be that Mr. Hooker is in the background, but seen from the perspective, say, of Mr.. Jesse Ed Davis, this album is a tour de force! Sometimes a great artist facilitates. This music deserves re-evaluation, on musical terms.
