JOHN LENNON – Imagine ORIG Apple LP / PAS 10004 (UK, Stereo, 1971)
Happy to present the complete first issue package of this most iconic LP. Included in this sale is:
- Fully laminated single sleeve with ‘pinched’ spine ends
- Black and white ‘pig’ postcard
- Folded, 6-panelled black and white poster with MATT finish
- Picture inner sleeve with circular lyrics on reverse
- Medium/heavy weight vinyl LP with YEX 865 1-U / YEX 866 1-U matrices and matt labels. (‘Porky’ inscribed to one side ‘Pecko’ to the other.)
In other words every single component of the original UK release and not only that but all in minimum excellent condition with the record itself in tremendous unblemished M- (Mint Minus) condition.
The fully laminated sleeve was ‘printed in England’ and shows very little to fault. There’s no tears, splits, dirt, writing, edge wear or even any corner wear. Opening edges are sharp and spine is just superb – no compression, scrapes or rubs. IT HAS THE 1ST PRESS ‘PINCHED’ ENDS. The laminate is nice and shiny with no lifting, chipping or flaking. There are just a couple of ‘crescent’ creases (small and not conspicuous) and some ultra small spine edge creases. The bottom back edge of the sleeve overlaps slightly. Overall a really pretty example that has survived brilliantly and is worthy of an EX+ (Excellent Plus) grade.
The postcard is also in EX+ (Excellent Plus). Some slight toning to the rear but no creases, pin holes, tack residue and no writing.
The 6-panelled Peter Fordham poster is the original one and has not been swapped or changed. Original posters came with a matt finish (later ones were more glossy). Again this has not been pinned, taped or tacked and apart from some light signs of handling and some foxing spots to the rear, is also in EX (Excellent) condition.
The paper inner sleeve HAS NO SPLITS and no other damage. Very rare for this inner to show up without any tears or splits but here is one. Some light creasing as is the way after 40 years but not heavily creased and still maintaining great shape. EX (Excellent) condition.
The record labels are just fine. No nasties, no writing etc…Possibly a faint spindle trace just to one side only from what I can make out.
The medium to medium/heavy vinyl is just in brilliant condition. I struggled to see any blemishes but could not. So here you have a disc which to all intents and purposes looks like it did as it was brought home from the shop all those years ago. NO scratches, hairlines, scuffs, scrapes, dust pockets or embedded dirt. Grades M- (Mint Minus). HAS BEEN CAREFULLY LISTENED TO and plays the same. NO snap, crackle or pop, no hiss, distortion or loss of clarity/lack of definition. A real and true keeper!
Record will be mailed in a brand new inner and separated from the outer sleeve to avoid any damage in transit.
