JOHN LENNON “Wedding Album” rare original Box Set!!

1969/USA/Apple SMAX-3361….here’s a rare and totally complete set of John & Yoko’s Wediing Album which contains all the items listed below. The actual box that houses the record and all inserts is in average condition, the bottom of the box has a heavy crease and an edge is split but all still there with no tape, the bottom of the box has a very aged look to it, the top of the box has had one corner taped and a split on the right side edge where the tape is still there, the top of the box is lightly aged and minor shelf wear, the box needs a little TLC but is in solid condition. The cover on the lp is in at least Excellent close to M- condition with just a bit of minor shelf wear. The vinyl is in VG++  condition with only a handful of very light inaudible hairlines, one across one side, scuffs, the record plays with some minor light spotty noise. The labels are clean with a couple of  light spindle marks. All of the inserts are pretty much as new, and show minor handling at most. Overall a pretty nice complete set here! Wedding Album is the final in a succession of three experimental albums by John Lennon and Yoko Ono. Released in 1969, it consisted of two tracks, one on each side of the record:

"John & Yoko", the first side, is a recording of Lennon and Ono calling to each other, through a range of emotions, over the sound of their heartbeats.

"Amsterdam", the second side, consists of interviews, conversations, and captured sounds during the couple's famous "Bed-In" honeymoon, after being married on 20 March of that year. Interestingly, a brief excerpt of the Beatles song, "Because" appears on this side.

The record came as an elaborate box set designed by John Kosh, including sets of photos, drawings by Lennon, a reproduction of the marriage certificate, a picture of a slice of wedding cake (inside a white sleeve), and a booklet of press clippings about the couple.

Wedding Album was no-show in the UK charts, but managed to peak at #178 in the US. The album was available on vinyl, cassette tape and 8-track tape, each with the same deluxe packaging. The album was also advertised through magazine print advertisements, which Lennon and Ono's previous two albums had not.

When Wedding Album was released, at least one music press reviewer was led to believe that the album was more experimental than it actually was. Richard Williams, who had been given two single-sided test pressings for his Melody Maker review, each with a blank side featuring only an engineer's test signal, took it to be a double album[1]. Reviewing it as such, he noted that sides two and four consisted entirely "of single tones maintained throughout, presumably produced electronically". This led Lennon and Ono to send the following telegram to Williams:

MINT: as stated with no defects

M- OR NEAR MINT: as stated near Mint!, or Mint Minus, same thing, very clean with no defect to sound or visual appearance, one scuff or mark may be permitted but it will be mentioned in the description, a near Mint record looks and plays very clean

EXCELLENT: not much below near Mint, may have a delete hole and/or a minor defect or two not visually detracting from the cover, the vinyl will appear shiny and in clean condition with very minor defects not affecting the sound, still very clean and very collectable!

VG++ still a very nice copy with minimal cover wear and/or delete/splits, still visually appealing, the vinyl will retain it's original gloss and can have some minor scuffs/scratches that don't affect play very much

VG+ a little more cover/ring wear and delete, splits etc., the vinyl will still retain much original gloss with a bit more scuffs and/or scratches I may list a very rare or desirable item with a lower grade, I will try to list all defects, both cover and vinyl no matter the condition, I also play grade the records on high end equipment and will give an honest play grade as well as visual grade, considering the number of records I buy on line my grading is very conservative and fair.
