THE RECORD IS HOUSED IN THE AFOREMENTIONED SINGLE SLEEVE WITH LYRIC INSERT
COMPLETE WITH THE ORIGINAL POLY LINED DECCA COMPANY INNER SLEEVE - DATED '8-69' (August 1969)
Bare Wires was the first Bluesbreakers album of new studio material since A Hard Road, released 16 months before.
In that time, the band had turned over entirely, expanding to become a septet.
Mayall's musical conception had also expanded -- the album began with a 23-minute "Bare Wires Suite," which included more jazz influences than usual and featured introspective lyrics.
In retrospect, all of this is a bit indulgent, but at the time it helped Mayall out of what had come to seem a blues straitjacket (although he would eventually return to a strict blues approach).
The album became Mayall's most successful ever in the U.K., hitting number three
Side 1: Bare Wires A Suite By John Mayall: WHERE DID I BELONG - START WALKING - OPEN A NEW DOOR - FIRE - I KNOW YOU - LOOK IN THE MIRROR
Side 2: Another Side: I'M A STRANGER / NO REPLY / HARTLEY QUITS /KILLING TIME / SHE'S TOO YOUNG / SANDY
LABELS: MINT
Factory-fresh labels - no spindle marks or indeed any signs of use
VINYL Visual: MINT-
Both surfaces shine like new - some wispy hairlines only, visible under bright light - of no audible significance
VINYL Audio: MINT-
The record shows no sign of ever having been played and my play-check at volume confirms the sound quality to be sensational throughout - plays like new - beautiful copy
SLEEVE: EXCELLENT+
Lovely condition - the front laminate retains a deep glossy sheen and the untreated back is clean with just some storage rubbing (nothing major). All edges are crisp and square with no wear at all and all spine text is clear, bold and unrubbed
INSERT: NEAR MINT
The lyric insert has one tiny bend to one corner but is otherwise like-new
INNER SLEEVE: NEAR MINT
The original inner dating from August 1969 is clean and fresh - no seam splits
