JOHN MAYALL "Blues From Laurel Canyon" UK 1st STEREO
1968 Unboxed DECCA, BEAUTIFUL R. Stace G/F, TOP AUDIO

JOHN MAYALL
Blues From Laurel Canyon
(an outsiders musical impression of Los Angeles)

HERE WE HAVE A SUPERB, UK DECCA (SKL 4972) FIRST *STEREO* PRESSING (December 1968) OF JOHN MAYALL'S SCARCE "Blues From Laurel Canyon" LP - ALL IN BEAUTIFUL CONDITION ONLY EVER HAVING BEEN LIGHTLY PLAYED AND EXTREMELY WELL CARED FOR!!

PRESSED ON QUALITY HEAVYWEIGHT VINYL WITH AN IMPRESSIVE CUT WHICH SOUNDS ABSOLUTELY STUNNING, THE ALBUM HAS THE VERY FIRST PRESS BLUE DECCA UNBOXED LOGO LABELS WITH THE FIRST *STEREO* MATRIX: ZAL-8532-1W / ZAL-8533-1W, VERY FIRST 1/1 MOTHER NUMBERS AND 'JT' TAX CODE ETCHED ON BOTH RUN-OFFS

THE LP IS HOUSED IN THE ORIGINAL OUTER LAMINATED, SINGLE FOLD-OVER, GATEFOLD SLEEVE “Printed in England by Robert Stace" AND COMES COMPLETE WITH ORIGINAL POLY LINED DECCA COMPANY INNER SLEEVE (DATED 11-68)
THE SLEEVE IS ACTUALLY THE ORIGINAL MONO SHELL AS IT WAS COMMON PRACTICE FOR DECCA TO RELEASE THE MORE LIMITED STEREO VERSIONS IN THE READILY AVAILABLE MONO SLEEVES AS THE 'NEW' STEREO SLEEVES WERE BEING PRINTED
SOMETIMES THESE MONO SLEEVES CARRY A STEREO STICKER BUT NOT IN THE CASE OF THIS VERY EARY STEREO COPY (and this is a very early original copy as highlighted not only by the earliest 1/1 Mothers but by the fact that the original Decca inner carries the November 1968 date code)
ALL IN ALL, A SUPERB ORIGINAL 1968 UK PRESSING OF A TREMENDOUS AND ESSENTIAL BLUES CLASSIC AND I THINK YOU WOULD BE HARD PRESSED TO FIND ONE MUCH BETTER - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED AND ONE DEFINITELY NOT TO BE MISSED!!

Mayall's first post-Bluesbreakers album saw the man returning to his roots after the jazz/blues fusion that was Bare Wires.
Blues From Laurel Canyon is a blues album, through and through. Testimony to this is the fact that there's a guitar solo only 50 seconds into the opening track. Indeed, Mayall dispersed the entire brass section for Blues From Laurel Canyon, and instead chose the solid but relatively limited backing of Mick Taylor (guitar), Colin Allen (drums), and Stephen Thompson (bass).
Instantly, it is apparent that John Mayall hasn't lost his touch with the blues. "Vacation," the album's opener, reminds one exactly why this artist is so celebrated for his songwriting ability.
The staggering Mick Taylor (here still in his teens) truly proves his worth as a blues guitarist, while Stephen Thompson (also in his late teens) works superbly with one of the genre's most interesting drummers, Colin Allen. Blues From Laurel Canyon is as unerring as Bluesbreakers With Eric Clapton, and equally as musically interesting.
Not only is this one of the finest John Mayall albums, it is also a highlight in the blues genus

Track Listing:
Side 1: Vacation / Walking On Sunset / Laurel Canyon Home / 2401 / Ready To Ride / Medicine Man / Somebody's Acting Like A Child
Side 2: The Bear / Miss James / First Time Along / Long Gone Midnight / Fly Tomorrow

LABELS: The labels are CLEAN and BRIGHT and have minimal wear, NO marks or unwanted writing and only light spindle traces evident when angled under a bright light
VINYL Visual: The vinyl still retains its original DEEP, GLOSSY SHEEN. There are some (very) light marks on the surfaces but these have NO major audio consequence WHATSOEVER. BEAUTIFUL VINYL
VINYL Audio: SUPERB - CRYSTAL CLEAR, VERY SHARP, BEAUTIFUL AUDIO. The LP plays throughout with NO scratches, skips or jumps, barely any clicks/pops (really, hardly ANY at all) and NO surface noise, not even during its many beautiful quiet passages. Sounds absolutely STUNNING and plays to an extremely high standard with SUPERB AUDIO CLARITY, NO groove-wear and NO distortion (NOT been over-played AT ALL). Must be graded EXCELLENT++ for audio and NOT over-graded in ANY way as I use STRICT RECORD COLLECTOR grading standards (please refer to my feedback and 'about me' page). A BEAUTIFUL COPY AND I THINK YOU WOULD BE VERY HARD PRESSED INDEED TO FIND ONE BETTER THAN THIS!!
SLEEVE: The gatefold cover is in BEAUTIFUL condition. DEEP GLOSS to the outer laminated surfaces and CLEAN, FRESH and UNMARKED inner surfaces. The edges have NO wear to speak of and the spine is straight and true with ALL text SHARP and BOLD. STUNNING, NEAR MINT SLEEVE

PLEASE HAVE A LOOK AT MY PICTURES - I USUALLY TAKE QUITE A FEW SO YOU CAN GET A CLEAR INDICATION OF EVERY DETAIL OF THE ITEM
