An increasingly rare (especially in condition as brilliant as this) and sought after copy of this 1968 UK original pressing folk gem on the coveted TRANSATLANTIC record label, STEREO TRA 167

The dead wax matrix numbers are :

Side 1  TRA 167 A - 1 G with stampers "A2 L" (hand etched) at 6 o'clock 

Side 2  TRA 167 B - 1 E with stampers "A1 B" (hand etched) at 3 o'clock 

The appearance of the vinyl is near mint. This is completely flat vinyl and still retaining it's original glossy and jet black lacquered sheen. A real "gleamer" in fact, and it's difficult to identify the usual few wispy hairlines or light surface paper scuffs even under a bright light - ok, if you look hard enough under the scrutiny of a very bright light you might just be able to detect a few of the wispiest of wispy paper scuff hairlines, but that's it! Clearly this vinyl has been barely played. Remarkable for a 50 year old antiquity such as this!

The labels are pristine. All of the text, and of course the iconic and beautifully art worked side 1 Transatlantic logo label, remain in perfect condition with no blemishes whatsoever, not even the usual one or two faint spindle trails.

The front and back laminated Osiris outer sleeve is excellent. There is just some minor vertical laminate lifting adjacent to the spine on the front side along with two 1cm laminate creases adjacent and perpendicular to the spine, one of which does impinge upon the spine and through the second "t" in the "Transatlantic" spine text. Apart from that, perfect with all edges remaining firm with no scuffing or rubbing and the same can be said for the still perfectly defined right angled corners, though there is just a little buffeting on the top left hand corner. Beautiful!

Finally, the quality of the audio is brilliant. There is wonderful tone and clarity throughout and with no distortion, even on the higher frequencies and at higher volume. No skips, clicks, "pops" or background crackle or interference or static. Just perfect. Clearly this LP has been barely played so sit back and listen to the unique sound of this amazing folk legend!

Comes with original plain white die-cut inner sleeve with no splits, tears, or fraying, just some minor creasing in the corners, and still 100% fully functional. Note that I always post the record in a new plain white inner sleeve in order to protect the original.

In summary a beautiful copy of this rare and increasingly sought after 1968 UK original pressing folk gem, with stunning vinyl and audio quality - a "must have" for any serious folk vinyl collection and only continuing to gain in value.

I take great care in separating the record from the outer sleeve in order to help prevent sleeve damage in transit and I always insert the vinyl, outer sleeve and inner into a clear plastic sleeve, thus adding further protection.

Mint

The records itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items, such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent

The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and /or creasing.

Very Good

The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good

The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

Fair

The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents are torn, stained and/or defaced

Poor

The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents are badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad

The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler
