For auction an IMPOSSIBLY RARE copy of the revered Johnny Moped's Promo-Only never-released "Basically, The Original Johnny Moped Tape."
Johnny Moped were right there at the beginning of UK punk, somewhat overlooked at the time but now rightly hailed as one of the GREATEST and truest of punk bands - recently having a film documentary "Basically" dedicated to their legacy. (Johnny said "basically" a lot!) They were great friends of and often support band to The Damned - Captain Sensible was once a member of Moped - and their debut album Cycledelic is now recognised as one of the most essential punk albums of all time.
What we have here is a promo copy of a Johnny Moped disc so rare it doesn't even show up on most of their discographies - including their Wikipedia page. Though pressed up in tiny quantities and scheduled for release by Chiswick Records, "Basically The Original Johnny Moped Tape" was never actually made available to the public and only exists in this form - when it can actually be found.
Playing at 33pm, the tracks on here are: Groovy Baby, Little Queenie, Hard Lovin' Man, 3-D Time. Something Else, These Students & Hell Raiser.
And what a copy this is. Genuine MINT. I cannot see any evidence this 44-year old disc had ever been played. This is exactly how it would have appeared when handed out to those few lucky music industry insiders in 1978. the vinyl shines bright, lush and totally unmarked, free of any scratches, scuffs or even hairlines. The plain white printed labels have no writing, stickers and are proud and bold. It comes, as it did, in a plain white sleeve. This too is immaculate.
You will never find a better copy of this genuine punk rock artefact from a great, great group. Johnny Moped. The true spirit of punk.
