JOHNNY OSBOURNE
FOLLY RANKING
ORIGINAL PRESS (NOT A RE-PRESS)
total thrilling album consisting of some of the best riddims Prince Jammy produced in these heydays of roots-reggae...10 tracks at all including GEMS (I tell ya!) like "Jahoviah", "Trench Town School", "Mr. Walker", "Leave Wrong", "Mr. Marshall", "Time Is Getting Dread" as well as the killing sound of the title track, the righteous and well-dread "Folly Rankin"...all recorded at King Tubbys Studios and produced and engineered by the man Prince Jammy...harmony vocal section by some of the best JA singers...Tony Tuff, Earl Sixteen, Don Carlos as well as veteran Pat Kelly...musicians like Robbie Shakespear, Sly Dunbar, Doug Bryan, Winston Wright, Ansel Collins, Bingy Bunny and Scully as well as horns-men Deadly Headley and Dave Madden made this album so outstanding...ENJOY the sound-files at the end of the page!
WAX condition: ex- / ex-, both sides show only very light general wear, plays killer style all the while, top ranking sound...
LABEL condition: A-side perfect / B-side perfect - watch the scan, please!
SLEEVE condition: ex-, thick-as-a-brick cardboard-sleeve shows only light general wear, I never ever saw a better one!!!
Something 'bout Sound + Vision: We shouldn't rely on visual appearance alone - therefore these records are graded after their visual appearance and their sound quality! I personally prefer a record with crackling but strong sound + punch to one playing clean but with surface noise from the pressing (as we find with re-pressed discs - too - often). Grading records is a very subjective thing but I try hard to be objective as a human being can be (yes indeed, this seller is a human being).
And that’s my Vinyl Grading Scale:
EX (= really great - EX means "excellent", really...)
VG (= nice, if you don't have an excellent one - by the way: VG means "very good"...)
G (= playable, but you might find a better one - G means "good", but this term may be a bit euphemistic to reggae-vinyl-novices. Be realistic: a record graded G doesn't jump nor stick, but that's the best I can say about it...)
P (= just a collection-filler for the hard-edged + hardest-boiled collectors + selectors + all the rudegals out there - P stands for "poor", yunno...)
