L.A.M.F. is the only studio album by the American band Heartbreakers, which included such musicians as Walter Lure, Billy Rath, and Johnny Thunders' New York Dolls bandmate Jerry Nolan. The musical style of the album blends the protopunk rock & roll of Nolan's and Thunders' earlier band with the sounds of the fully burgeoning punk scene. Biographer Nina Antonia states in the L.A.M.F. linear notes that "Johnny and his wise-guys were not a punk band, in the 1976 application of the term, they were N.Y. street punks playing rock n' roll but the kids still pogoed." [2]
The title acronym means "Like A Mother F**ker" and is said to derive from New York street gang language.
