JOHN’S CHILDREN – DESDEMONA – Original German 7" POLYDOR 59 104 with pic sleeve (1967)
Happy to present the rare German pressing of JC’s landmark psych classic penned, of course, by Marc Bolan. It’s on German Polydor (red label) not surprising, as Polydor was Track’s parent company in the UK. The vinyl should please: visually grading VG+ on the A side and at least an EX- on the B which – like the UK version – is ‘Remember Thomas A’Beckett’. The A shows light surface scratches (and I mean LIGHT) with the odd non-sounding scuff, while the B is a Bobby Dazzler - maintaining maximum shine with little, if any, marking…Playgrade is reversed with strangely enough the A sounding marginally better than the B – EX/VG+, but really there’s not much to impair, never mind spoil, your listening enjoyment of this legendary 45. The only nuisance are 2-3 ticks NOT POPS! On the B. That means there’s NO crackle, pops, distortion, jumping or sticking!! Bang it up loud and it sounds SUPERB!!!
A label has some light marking, possibly removable, while the B label has some tape residue around the Polydor logo (see photos, where this is clear)
Finally, it is supplied with it’s original 60’s paper colour picture sleeve which is unsplit, lovely and flat and not torn. It does however have extensive doodling on both front and back – SHAME! (see photo). Even if you separate – it’s still a thrill having an original of the vinyl!!!!
So there you have it – John’s Children with Desdemona. Lift up your skirts and fly!!!!
