Description

Jonathan Winters Ad Lib single-sided 7-track 33.33 RPM 12" METAL ACETATE on Capitol Custom. The 7-tracks included are: 1. King Kong Hair Straightener, 2. Family Portraits: a. Uncle Willie and b. Lamar Jean Lamar, 3. Twin Holer, 4. Fairies, 5. Atomic Scientist, 6. Disc Jockey, and 7. Grandma Frickert. The title says alot, as it seems that the tracks on this acetate were ad-libbed by one of the fastest and funniest minds in comedy, and possibly recorded on the air or at least off air during a radio show. There's no date noted on this acetate, but it's possible this was recorded during the 50's or 60's, and in light of the time, some of the humor is clearly not politically correct for our era.

I've included a clip below that runs nearly 6-minutes, which I cut together from the 11.5-minutes on the acetate to give you and idea of the type of comedy on this disc. I will admit that some of the humor will be considered controversial, X-rated, blue, and even racist, and in the clip attached I've actually edited single words by reversing it so as to not offend. Please note that in 50's - 60's, we hadn't entered into the world of political correctness we find ourselves in today. As this appears to be an uncensored private pressing acetate, the "offending" words I reversed in the attached clip include a 3-letter word for a homosexual, the N-word and a few swears. With that said, if such language offends you, I ask that you reconsider bidding on this item.

PLEASE NOTE: I have over 30 ACETATES and TEST PRESSINGS up for auction this week, along with a mixture of 100 or more 45's and LP's! With that said, please make sure you check them all out! If you win multiples, I'll combine them into one package to save you $$$ on S/H!!!

Just a note for those unfamiliar with metal acetates - these records are extra heavy from the center of the record being made of metal. These records are the first versions ever made from the master tapes (even before test pressings or promo copies and sound the best) for the purpose of feedback on the mix by those involved in the recording process. These discs were expensive to make, so very few, if no more than one are usually made and as you can imagine, these discs are quite RARE and sometimes the mixes can be different from the final release. These were never meant to be available to the public, so in you're a fan or collector, now's your chance to get something extrememely RARE!!!

The vinyl on this acetate is in very good - very good plus condition and plays solidly, but with some light noise hear and there, which doesn't effect the enjoyment of this disc. I'll admit, and you'll be able to hear for yourself in the attached clip, that there's times where it sounds like a weird electronic sound is occurring during the audio, which is on the actual acetate, and it's hard to tell what caused it, but if you've ever tuned an AM radio or even a short wave radio late at night, you probably have heard a sound similar to this. I didn't attempt any physical cleaning on this fragile Acetate, for fear of damage. If you wish to physically clean it or even import it into your computer to edit it to make it sound as pristine, I'll leave that up to you. You can hear sound samples of the side/song below, which is from the actual record in this auction, and you'll notice that I've given a few distinct samples from different sections of this acetate to give you an idea of condition, sound, mix and humor. There's a small chip to the spindle hole of blank flipside, which doesn't effect the sound in the grooves. There's a small patch of sticker residue on the label. You'll also see that there's a pink markered area below the spindle hole on the labeled side, and I can't say with any certainty, but while looking at this through a magnifying glass, it's possible the name Jonathan Winters had been written or signed sometime in the past. Unfortunately, there's no way to say if this acetate had been signed by Jonathan Winters at one point, but even if so, it now has faded/bled to a nearly illegible smear. Please see the photos below to view the label condition. This is a really RARE & COOL Jonathan Winters/Acetate collectible, make sure you bid today!!!

Buyer pre-pays the winning bid price and $6.00 Media Mail S/H for shipping in the good ol' USA (insurance extra if buyer feels necessary).  For winning bidders from Canada, buyer pre-pays the winning bid price and $12.00 USD International First Class S/H.  For winning bidders outside of the US and Canada, buyer pre-pays the winning bid price and $19.50 USD International First Class S/H.  For Multiple International wins, please wait for me to calculate the S/H before you make payment (see note below). For my International bidders, please note that the S/H amount quoted, is due to the additional weight necessary to keep this fragile item intact and without damage during shipping, by including extra carboard and packing materials.

(PLEASE NOTE: Although I will combine multiple wins into one package for all winning bidders, if there are any individual or combined multiple wins totaling $100.00 USD or more for INTERNATIONAL winning bidders, these will be shipped via Priority or Express Mail (whichever is cheaper) with insurance and shipping paid by the buyer for added security during shipment to protect against loss or damage of the item(s).)

I require payment to be made within 7 days (1 week) after the close of the auction, if on the 8th day following the close of the auction I haven't received your payment via PayPal, I will open an Unpaid Item Case.
