Celebrating the 40th anniversary of this iconic slice of synth pop, these unique versions give fans an intimate look at Howard Jones's creative process during his peak of his popularity. These tracks, recorded at Farmyard Studios and once hidden in a limited-edition box set from 2018, now arrive remastered on striking orange vinyl. The sessions reveal a more human side to Jones's creativity. Hits like 'Things Can Only Get Better' and 'No One Is to Blame' feel rawer, more immediate, yet still retain their melodic core. The optimistic tone that defined Jones's work in the mid-'80s comes alive despite the missing final polished version that everyone knows most. 'Assault and Battery' remains poignant in this form and deeper cuts like 'Life in One Day' benefit from the looser, organic arrangements. These additional mixes round out the release, enhancing its value for collectors. Presented alongside previously unseen photos from the original album sessions, this release is an excellent, complete package.
