JOSEFUS 's/t' LP (US, Mainstream Records, Catalogue #S/6127) Brand new/unplayed copy of limited year 2012 Mainstream Records label edition of year 1970 release (their second album, released shortly after their Hookah label debut Dead Man) of Heavy Fried Stoner Burnout Psych Rock by Houston, Texas band Josefus.

Recorded under heavy pressure and time constraints, Josefus' second album (recorded for Bob Shad's Mainstream label) more than withstands the test of time. Songs such as "Sefus Blues" and "Feelin' Good" stand up quite nicely against "Dead Man." Throughout the guitar work of Mitchell and the distinctive vocals of Bailey are ever present. For anyone who was or is a fan of Texas psych or psychedelic rock in general, this should be high on your Christmas list. Hopefully Santa will be nice and deliver the goods the way Josefus always did in the studio and in the flesh. For those who want to hear psychedelic rock recorded in its true home, Texas, this is a must. San Francisco had its moments, but Texas had Josefus, the 13th Floor Elevators, Fever Tree, Kenny and the Kasuals, well you get the picture. Roky and Tom Hall may have coined the phrase but Josefus never failed to deliver high octane psychedelic rock full of brilliant guitar work and Bailey's unique voice. Do yourself a favor and pick this one up while its still in print. You won't regret it.
