Joys Boys – The Surfin’ Stompin’ Joys LP

Here on offer is one of Australia’s most collectable albums of the rock n roll era. The Joy Boys’ album entitled The Surfin’ Stompin’ Joys issued in 1964 on the Festival label FL31257 saw the Joy Boys dabble into the surf instrumental sound with great success. This extremely rare album displayed the Joy Boys ability to play an Atlantic style hard guitar instrumental surf album. In fact, my 14 year old daughter asked me if it was the Atlantics when she heard it. They have produced this album with a really gutsy guitar sound quite unlike their normal middle of the road pop sound. It’s a pity that they didn’t make another surf album.

CONDITION

Cover – Has some general wear and tear, creasing and some spine splits, some wear around the edges. Possibly some water damage on the back cover (but what would you expect from a surf album) – Good.

Vinyl – Visually there are many marks. When I bought it at a record fair the seller claimed that despite the marks it played really well – he was right. This album plays amazingly clearly and the marks appear to be just superficial – VG.

In conclusion this great 60s surf album rarely is seen on Ebay. You will not be disappointed with the audio quality of this classic album.
