****************************************************************

This is an early pressing bought in the UK shortly after the time of first release. It is not a modern reissue.

This has the following matrix numbers:

Side one: FACT 10 A2            GG          TOWN HOUSE

Side two: FACT 10 B2            GG           TOWN HOUSE

According to Discogs this is a "3rd edition, late 1980 repress".

Description
Disc: The vinyl has light marks on both sides but for the most part these are superficial with minimal audible impact. However, there is a scratch on side one which the previous owner has tried to smooth out and which causes some brief audio issues. I've shown this area close-up in the final photo. I've played the record in full from start to finish and for the most-part it plays really well with very few issues. There is a little bit of crackle and background noise in the run-ins/outs, fades, silent grooves and intros and a few places where you get a couple of random clicks, but for most of the record there isn't anything bad and the play-grade would be around Excellent (Ex). However the area mentioned above on side one causes some clicks and other noise that start during 'Candidate' and continue into the start of 'Insight'. I would say that during 'Candidate' it is only noticeable as some light clicks intermittently audible, but it becomes more intrusive in the quiet intro to 'Insight' where there is a more-noticeable click and some other noises, but once the track gets going properly it's gone. It is just this brief issue which prevents me from grading the whole thing as Excellent (Ex), so I'm going to play-grade side one as VG and side two as Ex.

Sleeve: The sleeve has no tears and no big seam splits, but has ring-wear and other general signs of age and use, in particular it has lots of wear at the seams, spine, corners and opening and some minor touching-in to some of these, The opening corners have worn through to tiny corner-splits (just a few millimeters) and there is some heavy wear at the centre of the bottom seam, which if you look from the inside, is revealed as having worn through to become the beginning of a small (1cm) split, but this is not obvious unless you look from the inside.

Inner sleeve: The inner sleeve is a bit grubby, discoloured and marked with signs of handling, age and use, plus some ring-wear and a small split to one side-seam.

Detracting features not covered above:  None.

All photographs are of the actual item for sale. Please ask any questions before you bid or buy.

Where gradings are given these are based on the UK Record Collector grading system (see below) and are visual gradings only, unless the listing specifically states that it is a play-grading.

I use the UK RECORD COLLECTOR GRADING SYSTEM. This grading system differs from some other grading systems, in particular the Goldmine grading system. Please make sure that you are familiar with the UK record collector grading system before you bid.

Mint: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

Very Good: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

Fair: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

Poor: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

Plus (+) or Minus (-) are added where items fall between gradings. I only ever use one plus or minus.
