Description

Up for auction is a very rare copy of the Joy Division debut album "Unknown Pleasures" released on Quest Records (25840-1) in 1979.  This is an early U.S. promotional pressing which includes the rare inner sleeve with track listing (see photo).  Not a recent repress like almost all the copies for sale on eBay.  Cover has the factory promo stamp on front bottom middle (see photo).

Front cover is in very nice condition with few signs of wear or previous handling.  No ring wear or rubbing losses.  Does have a faint circular outline to the left of the center image (see photo).  Corners are sharp, not bumped.  Seams are strong, intact, no splits, but they do show some very minor rubbing along bottom edge.  Back cover is clean.  Grade the cover Excellent/Excellent Plus (EX/EX+).

The vinyl looks to be in great condition, retaining its original shiny luster.  No obvious scratches or scuffs, though there are a few faint signs of having been taken in and out of the paper inner sleeve--a couple very faint hairlines that do not affect the quality of the playback.  Labels are clean, no marks around spindle holes indicating little, if any previous play.  I've owned this album for 30 years, and have never played it--it's been archived.  Probably not audiophile clean, but for a vintage pressing, this record sounds nice, not perfect.  Grade the vinyl Excellent/Excellent Plus (EX/EX+).
