Ultra Special, Authentically Autographed by Bernard Albrecht, Peter Hook, Ian Curtis and Stephen Morris, Their Most Beautiful Autograph-Set That There is.

YES. Absolutely the most beautiful and special Joy Division autograph-set that there is, and to put meaning to these words, a clear explanation is given below for such a singular special Joy Division item.

It’s not often that autographs actually describe the mood/the ambient/the circumstance/the moment of their earliest being like this fantastic set.

First, the autographs are of an excellent, perfectly clear and balanced aesthetic quality, with the most relevant autograph of Ian Curtis in the most excellent place “Sandwiched” in the middle of the other autographs, and all slanting with a collective harmony upwards as if they are telling their now well-known story of the incredible Joy Division unity that was able to make their unique music.

Eric’s Club Liverpool in those days was very accessible, and any audience member with a passionate intent to meet any band member was able to easily do so between the toilets, changing room and the stage, so the story of the autographs having been obtained in the dressing room is greatly supported to be accurate, because of their high quality were almost certainly all made on a flat/table surface.

Now to visualise and understand that they were obtained in the very intimate environment of Eric’s Club Liverpool between 1978/79 by a young man who really did love the music of Joy Division and with all perceptible probability had a very amicable young personality.

The first person he approached with his (Dark Black BallPoint-Pen) was Peter Hook, at that moment Hooky must have been very comfortable with the person in front of him, most likely had seen him in the audience before, or had even spoken to him before as Joy Division Gigged at Eric’s Club many times, this is because when Hooky took the (Dark Black BallPoint-Pen) from that young man he did something so amicable on an autographed paper that has not been done before by any Joy Division member, or even after to this day.

Peter Hook on that paper introduced himself and the other band members by writing in uppercase/capitol letters “JOY DIVISION’S” making this autograph-set the only Joy Division one of its kind in known existence.

The young man then went to Stephen Morris to autograph his paper, so he handed him his (Dark Black BallPoint-Pen), then as you can see on the paper Stephen signed with the same pen, and almost creating a shadow perfection autograph below Hooky’s autograph.

Then something much more special happened, with all evidence pointing to this, the young man turns to Ian Curtis to autograph his paper, probably after having exchanged some kind words and maybe a few words about music, he then offered Ian his (Dark Black BallPoint-Pen) to autograph with, Ian tells him “No…that’s OK I’ve got my own pen” pulling out from one of his pockets his own (Light Black BallPoint-Pen) and very comfortably on a flat/table surface autographing the paper.

What evidence is there to this effect? Well, by the time the young man turns to go to Bernard Albrecht/Sumner to autograph his paper, he hands Bernard his same (Dark Black BallPoint-Pen) which both Peter Hook and Stephen Morris had already used to autograph his paper with, so Bernard also uses it to autograph with.

Consequently making Ian Curtis’s autograph standout as clear as daylight as being uniquely made by him with his own personal (Light Black BallPoint-Pen).

Moreover, and most importantly to support this theory are the many different times on pages of Ian Curtis’s handwriting found in the book “So This is Permanence” that show an undoubted similarity between the pen used to sign on this paper, and one of the pens he used to write many of his artistic works.

So put simply, this same pen used by Ian Curtis to autograph this paper is almost without doubt his own (Light Black BallPoint-Pen) that he used to write some of the now notoriously special Joy Division lyrics.

Finally, remember and be aware that you are enlarging these autographs greatly to see them on this paper of about 10cm x 9cm, however, in reality they are small and beautifully intimate made by four young, introverted and shy upcoming band members with an almost unknown name of Joy Division, some very few people knew them as WARSAW, liked their music and hoped that they would get better.

It can be said from experience and observation reflected in this collection, that all the very few known authentic Joy Division autographs were obtained by the very few people who had really noticed and liked Joy Division before the Joy Division world was properly turned upside-down. And the few authentic Joy Division autographs after that were just fragments of incomplete band signatures.

To highlight these facts even more, it’s enough to just look at these old authentic autographs offered in this collection to see that all of them had on the back sticky-tape or glue-tack, indicating that they were obtained by individuals who really did like Joy Division, so they displayed their autographs that they had put-in a sincere effort to obtain.

In conclusion, if there were a very few more once obtained by less interested individuals Joy Division autographs, then it can be safely assumed that these autographs “If Any” ended-up in the dustbin.
