The original LP release contained no track information on the labels, nor the traditional "side one" and "side two" designations. The ostensible "side one" was labeled Outside and displayed a reproduction of the image on the album cover, while the other side was labeled Inside and displayed the same image with the colours reversed. Track information and album credits appeared on the inner sleeve only.

European pressing: Near the inner groove of the Outside is etched in script: "This is the way" and the Inside has "Step". Both lines are taken from the song "Atrocity Exhibition", which was released on the follow up Closer album, a year later. Additionally, "A Porky Prime Cut" can be found on first UK pressings.

Closer is the second and final album by post-punk band Joy Division, released July 18, 1980 (1980-07-18), two months following the suicide of lead singer Ian Curtis. The album was originally scheduled to be released on May 8, 1980 (1980-05-08). The record was originally released on the Factory Records label as a 12" LP and reached #6 on the UK Albums Chart. It also peaked at #3 in New Zealand in September 1981. It claimed the number one slot on NME Album of the Year. was included in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.

Still is a posthumous compilation album by Joy Division, consisting of previously unused studio material and a live recording of Joy Division's last concert, performed at Birmingham University. Originally planned for release in August, it was eventually released on 8 October 1981. A number of the studio recordings have "added post production", including over-dubs by the surviving members of the band.

The performance includes the only time the group ever performed the song "Ceremony" live, which later became a New Order single. Another song featured is a cover of The Velvet Underground's "Sister Ray", recorded at The Moonlight Club in London on 2 April 1980.

Still reached #5 in the UK upon its release and peaked at #3 in New Zealand in February 1982

The song "Twenty Four Hours" was also performed live at Birmingham University, but was left off the CD release due to time constraints. Despite not being listed on the sleeve, it appears on some LP pressings.

The Peel Sessions is an EP released by Joy Division in 1987 on the Strange Fruit label.

It features the recordings made for the for John Peel's BBC Radio 1 show transmitted on 10 December 1979. The recordings were made at the BBC Studios, Maida Vale, London, on 26 November 1979. None of the songs had been released before the transmission.
