A fantastic Japanese disco / fusion LP by Kimiko Kasai with Herbie Hancock on CBS(Sony) from 1979!! As you may notice, most of the tracks are covers of HH’s tracks(with himself backing up)!! And lucky for us, half of the tracks are groovy ones of HH’s!! A-1 is a fantastic disco / fusion version of the track “I thought it was you”(which was more recently covered by Seikou Nagaoka, and put on the infamous Aosis label a few years ago!)!! The track has uptempo disco beats, groovy percussions + basslines, funky horns, space-y synthe sounds, musical electric piano phrases & jazzy female vocal(by K.Kasai) replacing the robotic vocal on the original HH version(the robotic voice is still well accomodated in the break part of this version!)!! A-2 is a midtempo groovy track, with mellow basslines, bit slower yet disco-y beats, musical electric piano phrases, space-y synthe sounds + jazzy female vocal!! B-2 is another funky fusion / disco cover of HH’s track(which was originally disco anyway!), with groovy basslines + percussions in the background, funky horns, space-y synthe sounds and mellow ‘n jazzy female vocal on top!! And B-4 is a jazzy disco cover of not Herbies, but Stevie(Wonder)’s classic track “as” well made into disco version in Herbie style!! The track is a midtempo disco, with musical violin solo, electric piano solo, female vocal + Herbie style robotic voice well incorporated in parts!! It comes with info / lyric sheet(mostly in Japanese except for the actual lyric part as the lyric is in English)!! Please click the link below to listen to this track(sample #20)!!
