The Mighty Diamonds, Heptones & Dennis Brown also contribute to this crucial footlong fortyfive, one of the greatest in Lee Perry's entire amazing catalogue. Called the best song ever in Junior Delgado's illustrious career, "Sons Of Slaves" details the half that's never been told amidst Perry's swirling sounds over an original rhythm. Wrongly credited to 'Julia' Delgado on the label, "Sons Of Slaves" is written by J. Hibberts. Carlton Jackson wrote and performed the amazing backside where more hidden truth is revealed. Produced & released during the spiking apogee of Scratch's banner Black Ark creative spark. From his short-lived, amazing 'Upsetters Disco Cork 1977' series, the tracks subdivide into amazing versions. Perry's steamy sound envelopes rule beyond all others. Also Album, SUPER-APE By The Upsetters' sleeve (see photo). Made in Jamaica. "One of Lee Perry's outstanding productions to surface in the latter half of 1977 was 'Sons of Slaves' by Junior Delgado. Perhaps the heaviest song of Delgado's consistently heavy solo career, 'Sons Of Slaves' named the lowly history bestowed on Jamaica's African descendants, his declamatory message given solid vocal backing by the Heptones and Dennis Brown. The song was issued on...an extended 12-inch that revealed extra Niyabingi hand drumming. The flip side of the maxi features Carlton Jackson's 'History', another heavyweight number. Jackson was a former civil engineer who voiced dub-plate specials for the Ethiopian Hi-Fi set in the early '70s. In 1973, the lyrics of 'History' came into his head while on a lunch break in the woods, but it was not until his friend Bunny Wailers found success with BLACKHEART MAN that Jackson considered recording the song.
