Description

Record is VG+  with some light marks; plays great with occasional random pops. Noisy lead-in groove on side 2, but just a couple of light ticks once the music starts.
Cover is VG to VG- with edge wear, browning in white areas, 5" split along top in from left, 7" split along spine in from top, 1" split along spine in from bottom, 2"split along bottom in from right

Note: No ear (or P) in dead wax on side 1, but there is an ear on side 2.

Online authority Allen Songer has warned, "Always look for the "ear" (looks like a cursive "P") in the dead wax. If there is no "ear" the record was pressed by Liberty in 1966 or early 1967...

However, this record does have the ear, but only on Side 2. Nothing I could find posted in Blue Note forums explains a case like this. Considering the heavy weight of the platter, the flat edge and deep groove on both sides, and the awesome sound quality, I'm quite confident that this is an authentic USA 1950s pressing. A rare, desirable issue of a great album, perhaps even rarer than usual due to the missing ear. Of course if you buy it and find that you disagree with my evaluation, it can be returned.
