Description
JUAN JOSÉ GURROLA EN BUSCA DEL SILENCIO - ESCORPIÓN EN ASCENDENTE On of the most hard to find mexican LPs ever. This is an LP recorded by the eclectic Mexican Theater Director Juan José Gurrola in the early Seventies with various friends (Victor Fosado: Percussion, Roberto Bustamante: electric Guitar, Eduardo Guzman: Trumpet -and Mauricio Vázquez, piano-). It is an unknown record, only a few copies were made. It is a rare example of Mexican experimental music, free jazz, alternative music, at that time. I consider Gurrola a pioneer of sound art in Mexico, along with Alejandro Jodorowsky who was a good friend of his back in the sixties. (Manuel Rocha Iturbide, artesonoro.net) Gurrola himself named this music as "Música Neuro-Atonal, una especie de free-jazz que se construye a partir de sonoridades eclécticas". In March 2007, in the greatest exhibition of his works (Claustro de Sor Juana, México City), Gurrola said: "de ese LP sólo se conoce un ejemplar" (only one copy of that LP is known now). This is your unique chance for getting this second known copy of this masterpiece. VC Discos, vcl-10042, 1970. Vinyl in fine condition. Sleeve with a split along top seam and tiny red stains; overall fine. The design art by great artist SERGIO ARAGONÉS, ARNALDO COHEN, FELIPE ERHEMBERG and FERANDO MARTÍNEZ. Handsigned by J. J. GURROLA on back cover: "Norma, creo que este disco es una forma de (illegible). Ojalá lo sigas oyendo. Gurrola". Tracks: A) In Search of Silence (En busca del silencio) - Nay Happiness (No, Felicidad) - Mr. Sadness Retires (El Sr. Tristeza se retira). B) Sea Feathered Flute (El mar, la pluma y la flauta) - Lessen The Time (Disminuye el tiempo) - Hyerononimous and Friends (Jerónimo y sus amigos).
