Judas Priest Scream for Vengeance Picture Disc I'm just writing an honest review of the LP here. This record comes in the original plastic slipcover, which has become a little brittle with age, but is still functional. Unfortunately, a plastic slip cover isn't really a good way to store a vinyl record. That, or the clear vinyl this record is made out of is softer than regular vinyl? At any rate, both sides of the album have many obvious scratches, which had to come from being inserted and removed repeatedly from that plastic slipcover. You can hear those scratches, as well, in the transitions between tracks and in the quieter sections of songs. It plays through without error (skips or repeats). I guess the final thing to point out is that the picture is not centered in the vinyl, which should be obvious in the pictures. If you want to hang this one on the wall, it will look fine from across the room, but this defect will be obvious upon close inspection in person. The record is G according to Goldmine, but clearly has limitations.
Judas Priest – Stained Class The record plays great. No skips or repeats, of course. Side 2 has two light, visible scratches that do not effect play, or can only be heard during transitions between tracks. While I was listening I did hear some noise during transitions on Side 2, so that is probably what it was. There is a bump in the vinyl apparent on both sides on close inspection which looks like a defect from the factory at the transition between tracks 2 and 3. I went back and played it again and you can hear it, but it is oddly more of a bass note than your typical scratch. I didn't see the tone arm bounce at that point, so it is very minor. There are no obvious visible scratches on Side 1 and the intro, transition, and exits are free from noise and, of course, there are no audible scratches apparent during music playback. The sleeve is a plain paper sleeve, so there isn't much to say about it. I believe this is how it came from the factory, because I see other used copies of this LP with the same paper sleeve. The jacket has normal wear for a used album from this era. At some point a UPC bar code sticker was added, as can be seen in the picture of the rear of the jacket. This can probably be removed with the use of a blow dryer, but I am not going to attempt it. It has a little water damage in the lower left front as can be seen in the picture. The labels are pristine with no wear or spindle marks. Overall, I would rate the album as VG to VG+ based on Goldmine's rating.
