Description
"Screaming For Vengeance" is no doubt the best Judas Priest album ever, and also one of the best heavy metal albums from the 80's as well. These legendary British Metal Gods have built the huge reputation for blasting out one classic album after another over the years, but to me "Screaming For Vengeance" is Priest at their absolute best, hands down. This album just rips, shreds, and soars like an eagle on speed, and it shows the band in top form here. The album cover with the mechanical bird is just so cool and awesome, I love it. Rob Halford shows exactly why he is the Metal God on here with his amazing vocals talents throughout, while guitarist Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing muscle out an unstoppable arsenal of awesome, muscular riffs, and excellent dual trail blazing, speaker shredding solos, and of course bassist Ian Hill and drummer Dave Holland both do a fantastic job providing a monstrous rhythm section. "The Hellion" is a short, but awesome instrumental buildup that leads into the ever so menacing and energetic "Electric Eye" which is highlighted by smokin' fast riffage, menacing vocals, and killer solos. This song is definately a true highlight, but there's much more. Next up, we have "Riding on the Wind" which is another awesome blazing fast rocker that'll keep the adrenaline going, while track four "Bloodstone" is an excellent mid paced rocker and another one of my favorites on here that starts with a great guitar intro which shortly kicks into a great catchy groove. There's also some great vocals from Halford, and excellent soloing as well. The fifth song "(Take These) Chains" is a great catchy melodic number which is later followed by "Pain and Pleasure", and the ultra blistering and speedy adrenaline pumping title track that both keep the album rockin' and rollin', and of course we can't forget about "You've Got Another Thing Comin'" which still remains one of Judas Priest's greatest songs ever. The guitar solo always rocks my ears whenever I hear it, I just love it. Next, we have "Fever" which is another great rocker, then followed by the album's closing track "Devil's Child" which features a very catchy chorus and a great solo thrown in as well. We're also treated with a couple of bonus track with the first one being "Prisoner of Your Eyes" which was a previously unreleased song recorded during the "Turbo" sessions in 1985, and an awesome live version of "Devil's Child". To put it simply, "Screaming For Vengeance" is without a doubt one of the greatest heavy metal albums ever released, with every song being a highlight.
