WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!! MEGARARE and Hard-To-Find original Polydor Records very first MONO press released by Polydor Records, made and distributed in Chile in 1970 by Discos Philips (Philips Records), originally recorded by Columbia Española (Columbia Records Spain) but licensed from La Deutsche Grammophon Ges., Germany, catalog number 600.001, with hand etched matrix numbers 600.001-A- EB-CD in Side 1 and 600.001-B EB-CD in Side 2, with orange/black Polydor Records labels with white “Polydor”. Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from Chile!!!

“YO CANTO…” (I Sing…) was the debut album by Julio Iglesias, the most successful Spanish singer of all times with two Guiness Records, the singer with more records sold in different languages and the best selling Latin singer of all times, originally released in 1969 in Spain, and in Chile we didn’t have to wait much because early 1970 (January) it was released here, as already informed, curiously licensed from the German release, but like usual in that period, we got it with an UNIQUE COVER made of a single piece of a very thin cardboard folded in the middle faking a gatefold cover and kept together for a plastic bag. Front cover keeps strictly the original Spanish artwork, with the only difference that in this original Chilean press it’s the Polydor Records logo and catalog number at top right corner. Back cover is totally different, it has the album title and tracklist written in Spanish only, with full credits, and a long review about his life and his career in spite to talk about the “only” song this singer has (“La Vida Sigue Igual”) but the review ends explaining this is a “promising figure that will become one of the best Spanish singers”. In labels it’s informed the album title, the tracklist and full credits and close to the Chilean catalog number it’s written the original Spanish catalog number, “CP-9035”. It’s also interesting to notice that in back cover it’s informed that songwriters for song “Alguien Que Pasó” are Julio Iglesias and J. PARDO, but in label the name of J. PARDO is omitted. So, here you have the chance to get and own another interesting record released in Chile, the debut album “YO CANTO…” by Julio Iglesias, with UNIQUE COVER, UNIQUE BACK COVER ARTWORK and UNIQUE ERROR!!! WOW!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in great VG- or VG condition, no missing parts, minimal ring marks, some age browning, more evident in the mouth edge of back cover, general wear in all edges and corners, with little rips in the mouth edge, creases and marks of humidity in front and back covers, but it’s still solid and complete as you can see in the pictures. The record is in VG- or VG condition both sides, closer to VG-, not so glossy as new but clean, with loads of scuffs, hairlines and scratches of all sizes, which amazingly don’t affect play at all. Labels on both sides are in great VG or VG+ condition, clean and clear, with only minimal spindle hole wear, some faint blemishes, a name of some past owner written in Side 1 and residues of tape in Side 2. The sound is in strong VG- or VG condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, with a soft background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), constant light crackles and some clicks and pops more evident from the end of “Alguien Que Pasó” on, but which don’t cause major distraction from the great sound this record still keeps from the beginning to the end. Sure this record isn’t for Minty minds or audiophiles, not the best cover and the record saw better times for a long time ago, but it’s also true that this record sounds much better that how it looks and it won’t disappoint anyone who knows the real level of rarity of this Chilean issue. Overall, it’s still a great record with not the best look but with still a very decent and respectable sound quality after after about 55 years, which shouldn’t disappoint anyone and should satisfy any serious collector who knows the real level of rarity of this Chilean press!!! And keep in mind the UNIQUE COVER, UNIQUE BACK COVER and UNIQUE ERROR in credits for song “Alguien Que Pasó”!!! Yes Sirs, what a FIND!!! Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

Due to new restrictions imposed by the USA on parcel services worldwide, Correos Chile has suspended package shipments to the USA. Now, my only option for sending a package from Chile to the USA is the private FedEx service, through Correos Chile. The shipping cost for records is as follows:

GBP55 for weight until 0,5kg

GBP70 for weight 0,5-1kg

All records will be packed outside of the sleeve to avoid damages in the cover and all records will be sent with tracking number via Small Packet or Parcel Post services.
