JUTTA HIPP - "At The Hickory House" Volume 2 - Very Rare Original MONO 1st press Jazz  LP - U.S. Original 1956 First pressing on Blue Note BLP 1516 with "167 Lexington Ave, N.Y.C." Address .. No bar code, no cut out corners or notches or saw cuts. Not a reissue!  Absolute 1st Pressing with: ...Deep groove indentation (both sides)...very thick heavy inflexible vinyl..."9M", "Ear" symbol and "RVG" in dead wax. (Recording Engineer Rudy Van Gelder) ....(see pics)  The complete package! 

VINYL:  Side one: VG++   Side two: VG++ to NM-    glossy  Thick inflexible original vinyl.  Minor scuffs, one noticeable hairline (side 1) that passes through first 4 songs.  

COVER: VG to VG+  No ringwear,tear mark (5" length) left side front cover; very clean back cover with one rub mark near bottom seam;  Jazz library sticker (with the library's bar code) upper rt corner front cover. Very neatly clear taped top seam split.  Barely any edge wear. 

LABEL: (side one) NM Stunning. Clean! Minty!    (side two) VG+ No marks but shows an ink bleed (see closeup)

SOUND TESTED:     This record plays crisp and strong;  Jutta's piano playing is certainly in the forefront thanks to Van Gelder's expertise....her playing is amazing - there is light background noise here and there.  The hairline found on side one visually passes through tracks 1-4 and results in a light repetitive tic that is more apparent in the two quieter tracks on side one (those being tracks 2 and 4).

Vinyl grading: 

M = Mint (like new, looks Unplayed!)  (Superior play) 

NM = Near Mint  (very clean, barely a mark)  (Plays Great!) 

VG++ = Excellent (some very light scuffs or hairlines) (Nice Play…barely any surface crackle)

VG+ = With a decent amount of scuffs and hairlines (with obvious surface noise)

VG = Very scratched (but plays much better than the appearance seems to be)

Cover Grading:  

NM = Cover shows no seam splits, no ringwear, barely any or no edge wear.

NM- = Same as NM but may have 1 or 2 small imperfections which are not significant

VG++ = Perhaps a neatly taped seam split or two, or some creases, or some light ringwear or a combination of these

VG+ =  Often strong signs of ringwear, or many seam splits, or large very noticeable creases, some tears  or stains or a combination of these

VG = An unappealing cover in many ways but the rareness of the album or the high quality of the vinyl
