Jack Kerouac with Steve Allen
Poetry For The Beat Generation
Newbury Gold Marbled Vinyl
Here’s a modern rarity featuring a modern philosopher.
Jack Kerouac recorded this album in 1958 for a 1959 release. Newbury Comics negotiated a re-press strictly Limited to a grand total of 300 pieces pressed in red vinyl with some wisp of gold vinyl mixed in for a 2017 release. Reportedly some of the pieces didn’t cut it so what was left equaled a number somewhere under the planned 300.
Offered in this listing is one of those remaining pressed records from the Newbury run.
This album features Jack Kerouac reciting some of his works with piano accompaniment by Steve Allen. What we get is pure Kerouac delivering his message as only he could. A very special listen for those familiar with this modern icon.
Condition of both the vinyl and cover is NM. The original “hype” sticker has been carefully transferred onto a new and fresh outer plastic sleeve in it’s original position.
This type of recording isn’t for everyone but those whom appreciate Kerouac will come away with an altered perspective of what an everyday life might mean to others.
When listing this record Ebay made a suggested asking price of $110 based on previous sales. I would definitely take $110 but I feel a fair price is closer to what I’ve listed it for and I can always use some extra “good juju” anyway.
