Description: I have the pleasure of offering for sale on E-Bay the rare classical first stereo issue record on the His Masters Voice record label. The first issue semicircle record label by the artist Jacqueline Du Pre, appearing with The London Symphony Orchestra and accompanied by Janet Baker contralto conducted by Sir John Barbirolli. This record comes from a family archive collection, which I am now putting up for sale, giving someone else the opportunity to purchase and own this rare classical record.
Record Sleeve:
The Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd record sleeve is in near mint condition showing little signs of wear for a 51 year old classical record. The front laminated picture sleeve has been stored in a protective plastic record cover since new maintaining its excellent bright and crisp appearance. (See photos for information).
Label:
The labels are in near mint condition with HMV labels showing little wear, all print readable with no signs of wear. The record shows very little signs of spindle wear, a record that has been played a couple of times since new (see photos for information)
Record:
Record condition report I have played the record on a good quality record deck, both sides have excellent audio sound quality, record lies flat on the turntable. Side one unmarked and side two has a couple of slight wispy marks on the last two Janet Baker's song arias, un-feelable marks causing some slight static sounds during the arias otherwise excellent, the only visible marks apparent to the naked eye. The sound quality is excellent to my untrained ear, though because the record has been stored for over 20 years it may require a professional cleaning. The record is in unmarked in excellent condition, besides the wispy unfeelable slight marks on side two. Comes in its original EMI poly-lined inner protection sleeve, which is in excellent condition. I am not a professional record dealer just selling family owned records, and have tried to give a full and honest account of the records condition. My grading of this record is near mint condition with excellent sound quality and audio experience. The record sleeve comes also in near mint condition, and near mint condition grade for record labels. I will start this auction at £9.95, sold with no reserve and let the E-Bay market decide its value. The Record Grading
MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition, I only grade sealed records in mint condition. The cover and any extra items are also unused in As NEW condition...
NEAR MINT: A nearly perfect record, with only the slightest cosmetic flaw – no audible defect, Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional scratch. Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached.
