James Horner - Willow: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Virgin Movie Music VL 90939 Released May 1988. Record NM, with pristine sides and playback. Jacket VG+, still in shrinkwrap but marked down due to the presence of a cutout/deletion hole in the lower left corner. A clear innersleeve is included to help afford the LP more protection and prevent seam splits on the custom innersleeve included with the album.
Here's a pretty cool vinyl rarity that I've enjoyed but I'm now ready to pass on. James Horner's soundtrack for "Willow" includes long scoring cues (usually between 8-12 minutes each) that draw upon the musical influences of Mozart, Bartok, Prokofiev, Grieg, and other standard-bearers in classical music to create the mystical "Elora Danan" theme, the down-to-earth and humble music for Willow, the heroic motif for Madmartigan, and the horrific tones for Bavmorda the wicked sorceress-queen. All cues are nicely rendered here and complement the film even better when on-screen.
This is an original pressing that I bought still sealed, and I've only played the album a handful of times since getting it 15 years ago - rest assured it's in wonderful shape. Be advised that this record is LONG, however - released at a time when LPs were pressed (pun intended) to compete with the marketing and capacities of tapes and CDs, this sucker runs between 35 and 38 minutes per side. It offers amazingly good sonics considering its length, and was mastered using the Direct Metal Mastering process by Ken Perry at K-Disc to help in this, but be sure to keep it pristine by making sure your stylus is in good shape beforehand.
