Description
Original, orange-yellow label (designed by David Stone Martin), deep groove. Moody, tenor sax with Howard McGhee, trumpet, Milt Jackson, vibes; Hank Jones, piano; Ray Brown, bass; J.C.Heard, drums. Music from the mid 40's. Originally recorded under Howard McGhee's name. 8 tracks which include 3 master takes which were first issued on this L.P. according to discographer Geof Wheeler's book on DIAL. This is an important body of work produced during the height of the bebop period. Very, rare 10" original.
Cover: VG++ or Better Intact and clean. Some scuff marks on the red identification sticker on the front cover. Some soil from handling on the back cover. The back cover lists other DIAL issues.
Record: VG(-) Visually shows moderate wear as it has been played a number of times. There are no scratches that I can detect, however, there is considerable crackles, clicks, and pops thoughout. In spite of this noise, the music can be heard clearly. Note that there is audible interference. Also, take into consideration that this is a very early pressing probably issued in l951 after the material was issued on 78's.
