Description
This auction is for a very exceptional Blue Note 10†LP. It seems that these jazz 10†records are becoming more and more difficult to come by. Especially Blue Note 10†LP’s. This particular record is a James Moody release. James Moody was one of Dizzy Gillespie’s right hand men. He got his start after World War II joining Gillespie on stage and on record in the late forties. He soon was recognized as a talented sax soloist and was offered a record deal through Blue Note records. This Particular release it one of few LP’s he recorded in the early 50’s through the Blue Note Label. He later went on to record on Verve and re-united with Dizzy Gillespie on stage and record in the sixties.
The cover is in great shape considering it is more that 50 years old (the record too for that matter). There is some ring wear toward the bottom the cover, but is pretty minimal. There are some pen marks inside the white lettering and the back cover is slightly yellowed. The cover in whole shows no signs of splitting. The spine does have some wear, but there was no information printed on the spine to lose. No water damage, no stains.
The record is great condition. The label itself is in absolute mint condition. No spindle scratches or cover wear whatsoever. The record only has very slight scuffs and scratches that I could not hear when I played this great record. It definitely did not sound like a fifty year old record.
This would be a great addition to any jazz collection. This is a true piece of Modern Jazz history. If you have any questions about this item, don’t hesitate to ask. Good luck and happy bidding.
