Just reissued- but here is a TUFF original copy of this sax/soul lp- and yeah, "Balls Of Funk" gets the flute in there REAL NICE! Complete basement production values on the cover- nice and funky- Mr Rivers has LOTS of toys at his disposal to thrill his young ladyfriend- sax, flute, bagpipes, cowbell, tamborine, maracas, woodblock, and more! Pic is nicely out of focus as well.
This is one funky funky self-made, small-label lp that just oozes cool.

Dusty Groove says about the reissue lp:
 Funky sax from the 70s New Orleans scene -- one of the few records we've ever seen from James Rivers, and a stone cooker to rival the depth of some of the best soul saxmen up north! James cut the session in collaboration with Senator Jones, who gives the record a nicely cracking style that keeps the New Orleans groove at the bottom, yet also brings in some of the warmer modes showing up more during the 70s in bigger name funky jazz.

We try to grade very harshly, and aim to describe the records accurately. We want you to know what you're buying, and what to expect when it shows up on your doorstep. We grade visually, but will play copies if something looks suspicious.

Mint= amazing, just out of the box, unplayed record, or pristine sealed copy. Very rare.
M- = like new condition, but has been touched by human hands. To someone who doesn't know records, they'd call this Mint.This is generally the highest grade possible.

VG+ = A couple of scuffs, or minor blemishes that do not affect play. Any blemishes will be listed.
VG = More scuffs or blemishes, which might cause slight surface noise.
VG- = A well-enjoyed record but still playable. Surface noise may be evident.

Below this we don't list, unless something is very rare.

NOTE: Some pressings of records just sound bad, with surface noise evident even when brand new- some Blue Notes, lots of Jamaican reggae/ska records, etc. While we can't listen to every record, be aware that sometimes a VG- record can sound better than a M!

THE DEAL:

We expect to be contacted within 3 days of auction close, and the transaction should be completed within 10 days, unless arrangements have been made prior to the auction closing. Otherwise, we will proceed with next highest bidder. Email us with any questions.

We leave negative feedback for bad buyers.
