Description

It's nice to stumble across vinyl treasures in one's local area. Highly sought after records from my neighborhood include (There Is) A New Dawn, Hunger, The Tree People and this gem. From Eugene Oregon, James appeared playing slide guitar and harmonica with The Tree People in the mid 70s. After that he did this solo project on this private label. There is perhaps 1000 in existance. From here he moved on to become Canned Heat's lead guitarist, replacing Henry Vestine. His guitar work on this album easily shows how he landed that position. Although his vocals are light and pleasent, his guitar talent is awesome, a powerhouse of crispy crunch axe work. But he easily slips into mellow hippy folk-rock and melodic slide tunes. The tracks all have a different flavor. The first track hits me as Eric Clapton meets Fairport Convention.
Joining James on this album are Kurtis Pierpont on drums, Skip Jones on bass and Franz Sanger on mandolin and electric violin.

I rarely EVER use the MINT grade, especially with sealed records. One never knows what is inside. Although I am quite familiar with this record, I opened it from still sealed condition to inspect it. I played it ONCE through to check for pressing defects using a Shure N97x stylus at 1oz. This is a 'tested' Mint record. and goes out to even the fussiest record collectors. I will start bidding at my usual 9.99

Label: Generation Records JT-1981-1 (the only record on this label)
Disk: The disk is in PERFECT condition, a MINT record that has been tested for defects.
Cover: The cover is NM in shrink, only opened carefully at the mouth. The corners are pointed and has no creases or wear whatsoever.
Inner Sleeve: Plain inner sleeve with photo/lyric insert

I ship records properly, 'disk out of cover' in a 2 ml poly sleeve and sent in a cardboard LP mailer. Questions are welcomed. Bid with confidence.

VINYL GRADING

M- = a pristine record. Displays NO marks, appears to be unplayed.

NM = a near mint record. May have VERY minor micro marks that can ONLY be seen in bright light and plays with NO surface noise.

EX = a sweet record. May have only a few micro-sleeve lines or minor superficial marks that do NOT affect play. NM-

VG+ = a well-kept record. May have superficial marks but plays with MINIMAL surface sound ONLY in quiet passages if any at all.

VG = a nice used record. Has visible marks, light scratches and MINOR surface noise only in quiet passages but is still a very good listening experience.

VG- = a well-used record. Has marks, minor scratches, some surface noise, but still plays through with NO skips and is still enjoyable. This grade is only sold by me if the record is a rare collectable.
