Sleeve: Strong VG++ w/ a light sticker stain at the bottom left hand corner of the front cover, a touch of very light ring wear on the back cover, some seam wear and a cut corner.
Record: Looks & plays Mint- / VPI cleaned / By the spindle hole it looks like this LP may have never been played.
COMMENTS: Nice original pressing of this rare Jazz Funk Poetry LP by Jayne Cortez and the Firespitters on the small Bola Press record label. "There It Is" by Jane Cortez and the Firespitters is one of those rare albums that only surfaces once in a while, a stunning mixture of poetry and music that creates something very special. "There it is", is another example of what a poet does with music and what musicians do with poetry. If you like Sarah Webster Fabio's "Juju's:Alchmey of the Blues" you will dig this LP! I saw pretty much this same band live and it was one one the coolest events I've ever witnessed.
Personnel : Denardo Coleman - drums, Bern Nix - guitar, Jamaaladeen Tacuma - electric bass, Charles Moffett Jr. - tenor saxophone, Farel Johnson - bongo & percussion, Bill Cole - Shenai, musette, flute.
Contains the monster DJ track "I See Chano Pozo", with Cortez's poetry read over some HUGE funky beats.
