Where else can you get Jeff Beck, Rod Stewart, Ron Wood, John Paul Jones, Nicky Hopkins, and Micky Waller, in one place, making great music together?
If you can find it listed anywhere else, I'd say BUY IT!! It's that rare!
I've searched everywhere for a copy of this tape online, to help with pricing, but I can't find it anywhere! I know true audiophiles know the story of this first Jeff Beck release, and maybe they've scooped them all up??
As I'm listing it here, I've got the headphones on, and I'm listening to it, wondering why I'm actually selling it. It's been with me for 50+ years, and it's still in perfect shape, no splices, no dropouts, just pure, clean Beck & Stewart, backed by Wood & Waller, laying it down, in the first Beck release in history, with an incredible sound, and with all the channel separation they could muster in the studio. When I bought it back in the late '60's, I never imagined I'd still be holding it, 50+ years later, or that it would still sound so good on pro-audio equipment. It does!
The case is in fairly good shape, except for some scuffing on the front, some minor discoloration on back, and a little edge issue, right at the opening cutaway (all as pictured). It is as it is, NO RETURNS. But, why in the heck would you cut it loose, once you've acquired it, and heard it? It's one of a kind! A must have for the discriminating audiophile!
OK, enough from me. Let's see where this goes! Who knows, it may cross the ocean to find a new home! It's all good, as far as I'm concerned! Global Shipping is turned on! Someone special needs to enjoy this, and I'm waiting for your purchase!
Just some added background, as a FYI:
Truth by the Jeff Beck Group was Rod's phenomenal international debut. Truth is an amazing album, and marked the start of an amazing run of great records for Rod Stewart.
Ronald David Wood is an English rock musician, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, artist, author, and radio personality best known as a member of the Rolling Stones since 1975, as well as a member of Faces and the Jeff Beck Group. Wood began his career in 1964, when he joined the Birds on guitar.
During the British Blues Boom of the 60s, a lot of music superstars got started in bands of young players who got together to explore American Blues and R&B with a distinctly local flavor. Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, John Mayall, and The Rolling Stones rubbed shoulders with Rod Stewart and Elton John as they played in pubs and clubs around the country. Drummers are often the unsung heroes of such a scene, and Micky Waller played behind a host of legends as he added his jazz influenced ‘Waller Wallop’ to the mix.
Nicholas Christian Hopkins (24 February 1944 – 6 September 1994) was an English pianist and organist. Hopkins recorded and performed on many British and American pop and rock music releases from the 1960s through the 1990s including many songs by The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, and The Who.
John Richard Baldwin (born 3 January 1946), better known by his stage name John Paul Jones, is an English musician, composer and record producer who was the bassist and keyboardist for the rock band Led Zeppelin.
